Suqian City is located in the northern part of Jiangsu Province, at the core of the 20 prefecture-level cities in the Huaihai Economic Zone. It is a cross-radiation zone of the Longhai Economic Belt, the Grand Canal Cultural Belt, the Huaihe Ecological Economic Belt, and the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
Suqian has convenient transportation. The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal runs north and south, with a navigable mileage of 980 kilometers, and has a second-class waterway port open to the outside world and the largest port along the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, the Suqian Canal Port. The Beijing-Shanghai Expressway, Huai'an-Xuzhou Expressway, Xinyang Expressway, Xinlong Railway, and Suhuai Railway run through the city. The Xusuhai Salt High-speed Railway was completed and opened to traffic in 2019, and Suqian officially entered the era of high-speed rail. The Weifang-Suqian High-speed Railway is planned as the Beijing-Shanghai Second Channel, and is planned to start construction this year. The Hefei-Suqian High-speed Railway strives to start construction before the end of this year, and Suqian will become a regional high-speed rail hub. The Su-Lian Waterway started construction in 2020 and is planned to be completed and open to navigation in 2025. It will build an important outbound channel from Henan, Anhui, and Jiangsu provinces to Lianyungang Port, reduce logistics costs, and optimize transportation structure. It takes 40 minutes by car from the city to Xuzhou Guanyin International Airport in the west, 80 minutes to Lianyungang Huaguoshan Airport in the north, 70 minutes to Huaian Lianshui International Airport in the south. It takes 90 minutes from Dongzhi to Lianyungang Port, and the advantages of sea and air ports are very obvious.
